A Trip to Penang Hill, Bukit Bendera!

Worst thing that could ever happen was to fall sick before travelling. Arrrgghhhh! Being a Food Lover, imagine losing your taste buds and everything you eat seems tasteless? Gosh I would trade everything just to feel better by tomorrow.

PLEASEEEEEE! The food in Taiwan is waiting for me. I can’t possibly fall sick now. :( Taking lots of waters, sleeping more and having strepsils on standby.

Anyway like most tourist, we Malaysians made a tour around visit at the Penang Hill and Botanical Gardens, anticipating some good photos of the surroundings.

We headed towards the Penang Hill but was turned down as the cable travelling up the hill wasn't functioning. GOSH! People from over the globe were camping at the room waiting and dissapointed. Well for us regardless, we just took some random photos!

This restaurant has been around for quite some time, since my good old school days where my family would come here for their yummy chicken rice. But in my recent visit, I guess they revamped the restaurant as it looks brand new and so much cleaner now.

We quickly settled down ourselves anticipating the yummy lunch that awaits us! Establishment since 1977? hmmm....

The interior and dining area was nice and cozy, dimly litted and set a romantic ambience for food diners. We pretty much got the whole restaurant to ourselves with them only serving 2 - 3 tables that night.

Nice desert looking wall paper that gives the restaurant a great Mexican ambience....

Old Klang Road Tai Chow!

My old time buddy was back in town from Singapore for the weekends hence the gang met up as usual to catch up on the good old times. :)

We headed to this Tai Chow place behind FGA Church at Old Klang Road, KL. Though hidden but this old shabby looking place is popularly known as the shack behind the FGA church and there's no signboard at the premises. LOL!

But FOOD was good where people under a zinc roof wooden shack would enjoy a nice plate of noodles.
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

The stew pork with mashed yam was heavenly good! Nicely braised to perfection!
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Stir fry Hokkien Mee! Did you see the "Chu Yao Cha"?

Another popular dish is the fried Pei Kueh Hokkien style. Also known as nien gao or pak koh, they're made from rice flour and is slightly chewy.

A happy bunch! :) I reckon it's quite hard to find this place but it's just behind the FGA church off Old Klang Road... I call it the no signboard restaurant.. LOL! :)

Pun Choy @ Restaurant LYJ!!!

Address: PT11, Jalan Perkhidmatan,Kampung Baru, 47000 Sungai Buloh
Tel: 03-6140 2678

My family has been a fan for Pun Choy, a Chinese delicacy where FOOD are all served in one hot pot. In this restaurant you get to anticipate layers of various types of food leveled accordingly in one bowl.

Imagine digging through the treasure layer by layer? LOL! :P It was sure fun!

The interesting aspect of this dish is that the ingredients are layered, starting with the bottom layer consisting of the braised foods like pork knuckles, fish stomach, abalone, mushroom and chicken feet. The second layer consisted of roast duck, chicken, fish and vegetables. After a while, the essence from the various meats seeped into the sauce to create a wonderful synergy of flavours.

One portion of Pun Choy can feed between 10 to 12 people and is a popular dish during the Chinese New Year festival.
